Dentist Appointment

Dental check up time!  Now we both go to the dentist together!  Below are a couple pics from our October checkup.  It was Mav's first ever dental exam, so Mommy wanted to document it.  Mav only had six teeth then, but they all checked out alright.  My mouthful of pearly whites got a good grade too.

 I loved sitting on the nice leather seat with shades on for my exam.  Mav screamed and refused to wear shades or sit on the chair, but they finally got a look in his mouth while Mommy held him in her lap.

After our exams, we got prizes for taking good care of our mouths.

Good to have a clean bill of oral health!

P.S.  We've notified Mommy that it's cray-cray to take pictures of a dental appointment.  Thankfully, she's agreed to refrain from photographing future appointments.  

Fort Family in Reno

The first weekend of October, Pastor Todd, Miss Cathy, and Dylan's Grandma Freddie came to Reno  to watch the UNR vs University of Wyoming football game.  Dylan's big brother, Cortland, is on the U of W team and although he is red-shirted this year, it was cool to see him all suited up with the team.  We had a great visit while they were out here.  We missed seeing Dylan (he had a football game of his own to play back in California), but Pastor Todd was an acceptable stand-in and I (Talley) made him my best friend for the weekend.

Dylan's Grandma Freddie was fun and feisty!  She taught us all about the art of football smack talk.  Fortunately, we made it out of the game without any brawls breaking out.

 Bob the Builder made an appearance at the game too.  Poor Maverick was shaking with terror at the sight of Bob.  Mav has a deep seated fear of costume heads.

UNR ended up with the victory, but everyone had a good time together.  Here are some more pics from our visit, just hangin' out at our house.

Cul-de-Sac Craze

In October we went to a play date where we decorated our wheeled toys and raced around the cul-de-sac.  It was super fun!  Talley is an ace on the tricycle now and I'm learning how to scoot.  Clear the roads, folks!

Fire Truck Party

In September, we attended a birthday party that was done right.  There were all the standard things that make a birthday party fun (ie toys, food, cake, etc) as well as a monstrous bounce house and a vintage fire truck.  The fire truck driver gave us rides to and from the park.  It was super fun!  These friends know how to have a party!  Of course, having Grandpa Talley along made it extra special too.  Thanks for partying with us, Grandpa T!

Baby Bubba

We like to think of Bubba as our baby.  He let's us pet him, hold him, and cuddle him at whim, and we love it! We think he likes it too.  Doesn't it look like he's smiling?

I Feel Pretty

Just a normal day in mid September, but wearing a nice dress and having my hair up makes me feel especially pretty.  Go ahead and snap away with those photos, Mommy.

Nature Kids - Galena Hike

We love being in nature.  We've hiked the Numbers Trail in Galena Forest a couple times now.  It's so fun walking through the wilderness and finding good sticks and new leaves.

Mav Ringing the Bell at Swim School

On September 14th, I graduated from Baby I to Baby II level in swim school!  I got to ring the bell just like Talley has done a few times now and I got a cool keepsake ribbon.  I am able to do a 10 second submersion swim, climb out of the water with a little assistance, and monkey walk along the side of the pool a bit.

It was a really cool thing to ring the bell; however, I am missing my old teacher and class.  I'm sticking with it, though, and hopefully, Baby II will eventually be just as fun as Baby I.

The Balloon Races - Dawn Patrol

The Great Reno Balloon Race is a special event that takes place annually at San Rafael Regional Park.  Nearly 100 hot air balloons are launched into the sky together.  It's a really neat sight to take in.  This year, it was held over the weekend of Sept 8th.  This was our first year attending and we wanted to go all out, so we participated in Dawn Patrol.   We woke up at 4:30 am to be there for the 5 am Glow Show.  We also stayed to watch the balloons inflate and launch soon after sunrise.  We brought blankets and snacks and had a breakfast picnic with our friends.  Maverick especially loved the banana muffins and everyone laughed as he kept chanting emphatically "muff, muff, muff!" (See a pic of him possessively guarding a "muff" below.)  It was a fun event and we're glad we went.  We were so pooped when when we got home, though!  Next year, we'll probably be a little less hard core and sleep in a bit to go just in time for the mass launch around 7am.

Talley's First Day of PreSchool

On September 4th, I had my first day of pre-school!  I got to wear a special new outfit and carry a cute new lunch bag.  I now attend two days a week.  Teachers Jeanine and Lorrie shown above are very kind.  I love singing songs, doing art projects, and learning new concepts at school.  I also like my new friends from class.

The Nugget Rib Cook Off - 2012

The Nugget Rib Cook Off is one of the biggest and most beloved annual events here in the Biggest Little City.  We love going for the ribs, corn, and carnival rides.  This year, Grandpa Talley got to join us for the event.  Here are some pics:

Lake Vacation with Friends

In August, some of Daddy and Mommy's friends came to stay and play with us at the lake - Uncle Danny, Aunt Beth, Collin, and Ode.  Uncle Danny and Collin were suite mates with Daddy back in Freshman year of college.  Uncle Danny and Aunt Beth brought their little girl, Harper, and Collin and Ode brought their little boy, Ronan. Harper and Ronan were awesome play mates.  The Mommies and Daddies had fun together while us kids had a blast playing together too!  Here are some pics from our fun time together:
